Whiteroom joined the mendmyi team to see the last in the series of the TV programme QI. They were invited by Stephen Fry himself so he could collect his newly colour customised iPhone, all courtesy of Colour Lab. Guests for this episode included Jo Brand, Sue Perkins and Liza Tarbuck.
After an insightful episode we were allowed backstage to the green room to present him with his phone, in the colours of his favourite team Norwich City. As he was handed his Norwich City clad phone he said:
‘WOW! That’s f***ing Amazing!!’
We spoke at length about jail breaking handsets and the next installment to Colour Lab for iPad. Stephen was great person to talk to and was full of admiration for the mendmyi brand and the teams success.
After the show he tweeted his appreciation for mendmyi which went out to 4 million followers.
Should have pointed out that it was the miraculous @mendmyi who did the work on Canaryising my phone…. Thanks – http://fry.am/LPqcFY “
From previous experience the Whiteroom team were fully prepared for a serge in visitors on the mendmyi website and upgraded the server in advance. In fact with a total of 18,000 page views in 1 day, there were so many people on the website after the tweet, it almost crashed it!
Since the launch of Colour Lab there has been a host of other celebrities queuing up to use it. This includes all 3 presenters from The Gadget Show, Radio 1 Presenter Tina Daheley, Phillip Idowu, World Champion Triple Jumper and Professional Rugby Players Tom Voyce & Mike Tindal. Let’s see which celebrity will be the first to send their iPad to Colour Lab.
